Funke has an insanely quick first step when firing off the snap of the ball and has perfected a nice mixture of power & finesse moves that keep offensive linemen on their heels, as he is able to detach swiftly and wreak havoc on the opposing teams quarterback. When lining up as a strong side DE, Funke is able to create a significant push into the backfield and quickly close in on ball carriers with his stellar closing speed. He also does a marvelous job at keeping outside containment by keeping his inside arm extended and exhibits uncanny lateral agility at such a young age when scraping down the line of scrimmage to not allow backs to get to the edge.
