Freshman scouting notes - New Top 2026 EDGE recruit Dominic Funke demonstrates the ability to collapse the pocket by utilizing excellent overall technique to gain leverage on his opponents and possesses the overall athleticism to become a dominant power five pass rusher. Funke has an insanely quick first step when firing off the snap of the ball and has perfected a nice mixture of power & finesse moves that keep offensive linemen on their heels, as he is able to detach swiftly and wreak havoc on the opposing teams quarterback. When lining up as a strong side DE, Funke is able to create a significant push into the backfield and quickly close in on ball carriers with his stellar closing speed. He also does a marvelous job at keeping outside containment by keeping his inside arm extended and exhibits uncanny lateral agility at such a young age when scraping down the line of scrimmage to not allow backs to get to the edge.
