Sophomore scouting notes - Top 2024 D-Line recruit Magnuson Lott had a phenomenal Freshman campaign and has been rapidly rising up many prestigious D1 football teams recruiting boards, as he exhibited many early athletic attributes of the next premier edge rusher in the world of College Football Today. From visiting with Mr & Mrs. Lott recently and learning more about Magnuson's relentless work ethic on & off the field, I began to realize that the foundation for this young man's career is set to explode in the coming future. Lott was also a key contributor on Special Teams for Detroit Catholic in 2020, as you will see the "Swedish Monster" use a beautiful power move to rapidly penetrate the A gap and block a PAT attempt on the very first play of his 2020 highlight's. On the very next play, Lott can be witnessed torching the opposing offensive line and using his extreme quickness to rapidly close in on the QB for a sack. When you combine his overall versatility on the defensive front, along with his brilliant football IQ and high motor, you start to see why Lott projects as one of the top 2024 edge rushers in the 2024 football recruiting class. He does a masterful job using his uncanny upper body strength in hand to hand combat off the snap of the football and Magnuson could arguably have the quickest fire off (FO) with his blazing 4.8, 40 speed when coming off the edge. The Swedish Monster is one of the best in the nation at holding the edge against the run game, as he is easily able to maintain leverage using his inside arm and locate ball carriers to hog tie them, while demonstrating outstanding overall tackling technique. What I really value about Lott's play on the D-Line is the fact he also is demonstrating the abilities to put his hand in the dirt and plow through the opposition using his bull rush.

Magnuson has great lateral movement when scraping down the line of scrimmage and is a very sure tackler upon arrival at the football. Starting on the Varsity level for the U of Detroit, Lott can be seen performing next level stunts and twists on the D-Line and demonstrates an extremely efficient pass rush when getting after the quarterback.

He uses his hands violently in the trenches and has a very quick swim move in his arsenal to easily flow through double teams, while possessing the high octane motor needed to begin to develop into an elite DL/OL recruit in the world of College Football Today.
