2024 NEBRASKA FOOTBALL PREVIEWThe 2024 Nebraska football preview is brought to you by Scout Trout Elite LLC & College Football Today RokFin. DANTE DOWDELLDante Dowdell, who was one of the best running backs nationally in the 2023 recruiting class will be suiting up for the Nebraska Cornhuskers after appearing in 6 games for the Oregon Ducks last season. The Huskers backfield was befuddled with injuries earlier last season against Northern Illinois & both Gabe Ervin Jr. & Rahmir Johnson will be back in action, as well as last year’s emerging starter Emmett Johnson. They will also have the luxury of Kwinten Ives as another freshman who was electrifying on the high school football gridiron and was one of the top running backs nationally out of Palmyra HS in New Jersey. With that being said, Dowdell certainly stood out in the Huskers Spring game and was noticeably effective as his tough downhill running style & breakaway speed were on full display. (Dante Dowdell scouting report) “Oregon transfer Dante Dowdell led the game with 76 rushing yards on just seven carries. He added two touchdowns to his name from one yard and 49 yards out. Dowdell brings hard-nosed running to Nebraska with a 6-foot-3, 215-pound build. He also showed that he is capable of being a receiving back as the subject of multiple screens.” “Dowdell’s play of the day came in the third quarter where he took a delayed handoff 49 yards to paydirt. His breakaway speed was on full display as he went untouched for the majority of the run.” - Via - DailyNebraskan.com HUSKERS FOOTBALL PREVIEWThe Huskers will benefit from a stout backfield which will help the likes of former five star QB Dylan Raiola, Heinrich Haarberg or Daniel Kaelin initiate the play-action passing game, which will help dynamic weapons like Janiran Bonner find openings in the defensive secondary. Bonner’s 6 '2”, 220 pound frame was utilized heavily as a H-Back last season and we will see him aligned all over the gridiron as he possesses an Anquan Boldin like skill-set that will be highly desired in the NFL. The Huskers have an explosive newcomer at receiver in Jacory Barney Jr who also bedazzled Nebraska nation during the Spring contest & will be called upon heavily in the kick return game as one of the fastest players on the Huskers roster. The early enrollee finished leading the game with 163 all-purpose yards and hauled in three receptions for 66 yards. The Huskers offense also will benefit mightily from Wake Forest transfer Jahmal Banks, who finished the 2023 season as the 5th top receiver in the ACC and was honorable mention All-ACC after a glorious 2022 campaign. Banks will be a go to weapon in the red-zone and has the ability to stretch the field in the vertical passing game with his 6’4”, 205 pound frame & knack for highpointing the ball over the top of defenders. Former Wyoming Cowboy & Texas Longhorn standout receiver Isaiah Neyor hauled in 44 receptions for 878 yards & 12 TD’s during his 2021 campaign at University of Wyoming as the Huskers will benefit mightily if they can replicate this production in 2024. On the offensive front, the Huskers possess experience across the board which should bode well if they can remain healthy throughout the duration of the 2024 season. THE BLACKSHIRTSThe Black-Shirts had a remarkable season in 2023 and boasted the best Nebraska defensive unit since 2010. All Big Ten performers NG Nash Hutmacher, DE Jimari Butler & DL Ty Robinson all return up front with Rover Isaac Gifford also returning to bolster the Huskers dominant defensive schematics. Marques Buford Jr. returns after red-shirting to rehab a prior injury and was a key contributor in the four games played during his 2023 campaign. If the Huskers can replicate last season's defensive performance with the added weaponry offensively the future looks very bright in Lincoln, Nebraska. Especially with the acquisition of Nebraska’s own Daniel Kaelin, who will act as a sponge with his extremely high intellect to absorb all of the attributes needed to excel in the coming future for the Nebraska Cornhuskers or wherever the road may take him. - Daniel Kaelin Scouting Report DANIEL KAELIN SCOUTING REPORTRead the Scout Trout Elite Daniel Kaelin scouting report below and see why we believe he has the potential to become the next elite gunslinger for the prestigious Nebraska football program! Player notes - Top 2024 QB recruit Daniel Kaelin was able to rank in the the top 10 in the College Football Today 2024 Top 50 QB recruit rankings and possesses abilities as a quarterback well beyond his years, while orchestrating the Bellevue West offense. Kaelin uses outstanding subtle pump fakes to maneuver defenders out of position and is able to fit the football into very tight passing windows, when dropping the football over the top of the defense to his receiving targets. Danny exhibits dual-threat capabilities in his new 2020 highlight's and is very adept at throwing on the run, while rolling to the left or right and is able to throw his receivers open in stride. He proves to have a very quick release and wastes no time getting rid of the football in the pocket once he hits his back step. Kaelin can make all of the big time throws at an early age and is able to throw a flat dart with outstanding arm strength or go over the top of the defense with precision and touch passes. He is extremely technically sound when delivering the football and will rank among the elite quarterbacks in the nation for years to come at College Football Today.
