2024 CFP TOP 25 RANKINGS REVEALThe College Football Now 2024 CFP top 25 rankings reveal case by case release features each 2024 CFP top 25 ranked team's conclusive evidence to their base case argument for bids to the 12 team College Football Playoff! CFP RANKINGS REVEALThe official CFP rankings reveal will be released Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN and then they will attempt to project the 12 team CFP bracket, which will inevitably be to amuse the fan bases nationally as there are still to many games with major CFP top 25 implications remaining on the schedule to accurately project the 12 teams. #1 OREGON DUCKSThe Oregon Ducks have two top 25 wins on the season and have notably progressed since their early season closely contested match-ups with Idaho (24-14) and Boise State (37-34). Given Boise State has since gone on to have a remarkable season in Mountain West Conference play and are currently the favorite out of the non-power four conference team’s to make the 12 team playoff, you must give the nation’s top spot to Oregon after they defeated top five ranked Ohio State by one point at home. The Ducks have pretty much waltzed through the rest of their schedule and boast three top 25 victories on the season, as they befuddled the likes of former top 25 ranked Illinois Fighting-Illini. After decimating the likes of Michigan this past weekend & with an offense that appears to be firing on all cylinders with Heisman Frontrunner Dillon Gabriel at the helm, I believe Desmond Howard & many other top analysts early season prediction of an Oregon National championship could have the potential to become reality. Strength of schedule - #45 #2 MIAMI HURRICANESThe Miami Hurricanes are currently undefeated and with the Louisville Cardinals big win over the top 25 ranked Clemson Tigers, will prove to give the Canes a top 25 victory on their resume. Also, Virginia Tech & Duke are both “fringe” top 25 programs that will also prove to bolster the high flying hurricanes resume down the stretch, as I believe at least one of the two could potentially crack the top 25 by season’s end. The victory over the Florida Gators should hold more weight since the Gators have been highly competitive in their four losses to top 25 team’s and even though Miami’s defense hasn’t been stellar, their offense has been unstoppable under the direction of Heisman Trophy frontrunner Cam Ward. Currently, the Canes have the number one offense nationally & have put up gaudy numbers all season long with over 5,000 yards of total offense through 9 games played. In the new era of CFB, if you can win in a shootout week in and week out in clutch situations, your odds increase down the stretch as most games will be closely contested battles. The Canes still have a formidable schedule the remainder of the season and will face former top 25 ranked Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and another soon to be top 25 program in the Syracuse Orangemen. Strength of schedule - #46 #3 GEORGIA BULLDOGSGeorgia & the SEC conference has been extremely hard to gauge this season as the conference as a whole is the most talented we have ever witnessed. The newly adopted 12 team CFP format could wind up being rendered as blatant disrespect because of the rigorous schedule’s that these team’s must face. With that being said, Georgia’s inconsistencies offensively have been cumbersome on the Dawgs faithful and Carson Beck has been hurling the pigskin to the wrong colored jersey’s religiously as of late. If the Dawgs can go back to establishing the ground & pound game that set-up their big play potential through play-action and eliminate these costly turnovers, their defense will carry them to another national championship. If they cannot find consistency in the passing game and better play-calling to give Beck a better chance to find open receivers, all of the Dawgs talent will be wasted down the stretch as they have top 25 opponents Ole Miss & Tennessee back to back. If the Ole Miss offense led by Jaxon Dart comes to play like they did this past weekend against a very talented Arkansas team, next week could wind up being an epic shoot-out & the Dawgs QB will be called upon to step up in key situations in order for the Dawgs to reign victorious. Strength of schedule - #1 #4. OHIO STATE BUCKEYESThe Ohio State Buckeyes could easily be ranked the number one team in the nation currently, as they have the most talented roster ever assembled at Ohio State and were a half a second away from kicking a go ahead field goal to win against the top ranked Oregon Ducks. Their enormous victory over the Penn State Nittany-Lions could be enough to sway the CFB Playoff committee’s initial rankings and I believe we could see the Buckeyes as high as #2. The top 10 is extremely competitive, but Ohio State is making a claim to be the best one loss team on the board currently and I believe the win over the fringe top 25 Iowa Hawkeyes will hold more weight as the season comes to an end. Ohio State has top 10 ranked Indiana & their Rivals from Michigan to end the season, after two Big 10 opponents in Purdue & Northwestern & predictably could still sneak in the CFP 12 team playoff bracket even with a second loss. The game against Indiana will prove to be the biggest of the season for the Buckeyes, as their CFP fate will be on the line as well as a bid to an epic re-match with the top ranked Ducks of Oregon. If the Buckeyes can start to find the explosiveness that their offenses possessed in year’s past late in the season, we could be talking about Coach Ryan Day bringing a CFP National title back to Columbus, Ohio. They most certainly have the roster amassed to light up the scoreboard in any given situation, but the Big 10 is stacked much like the rest of CFB in 2024 with great football team’s from top to bottom & it will take a total team effort to run the table. Strength of schedule - #19 #5. TEXAS LONGHORNSThe Texas Longhorns are another squad that has a roster stacked from top to bottom and started off the season with guns blazing offensively. With that being said, in the current top 25, the Longhorns do not have a victory, but did beat Vanderbilt 27 to 24 who has proven to be a top 25 caliber team with the win over Alabama. Vanderbilt most likely will be ranked in the top 25 in today’s AP poll, but after Louisville defeated Clemson & South Carolina bludgeoned the Texas A&M Aggies, it wasn’t an easy decision. With that being said, the Longhorns have two Quarterbacks who tend to step up in the limelight in Quinn Ewers & Arch Manning and will need to bring their A games the rest of the season as they will face a highly ticked off Gators program this coming week. They will finish up the season against SEC opponents Arkansas, Kentucky & in-state rival Texas A&M, as it appears the Longhorns will indeed need to run the table the remainder of the season to clinch a 12 team playoff berth. Strength of schedule - #54 #6. PENN STATE NITTANY-LIONSThe Penn State Nittany-Lions fell to the Buckeyes this past weekend by a score of 20-13 at home & will need to run the table for the rest of the season to earn a CFP berth in 2024. Penn State currently does not have a top 25 win this season, but defeated formerly top 25 ranked Illinois and very good team’s in Wisconsin, USC & UCLA. They have Washington up next and no top 25 opponents the rest of the season, unless the now 6 & 3 Golden Gophers can continue their winning ways under the legendary coach PJ Fleck. With the loss to Ohio State, the Nittany-Lions path to the Big 10 championship game becomes muddied with Indiana & Oregon undefeated on the 2024 season, as the tie-breaker will go to Ohio State if they are to beat Indiana on November 23rd. The Nittany-Lions will need a little help it appears & will need the Gophers to remain a top 25 contender or team the rest of the season in order to have at least one top 25 victory before possibly heading into the Big 10 conference championship game to solidify a first round buy in the 2024 CFP 12 team playoff bracket. Strength of schedule - #28 #7. INDIANA HOOSIERSThe Indiana Hoosiers arguably should be ranked higher, but have played a very weak schedule as it is currently outside of the top 100 according to ESPN. With that being said, I have been hearing whispers that the Buckeyes have a major concern on their hands after beating Nebraska by a score of 21 to 17 as the Hoosiers manhandled the Cornhuskers by a score of 56 to 7! The Hoosiers currently have the 8th ranked offense & defense in all of college football and have scored over 30 points in every game this season. They will face-off against Big 10 foe Michigan next at home, after manhandling the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing and then will play for all the marbles against the Ohio State Buckeyes, while finishing the season against in-state rival Purdue. So far, there hasn’t been any evidence against the Indiana Hoosiers besides ESPN’s dismal ranking of their strength of schedule and I believe the CFP committee will also agree with this conclusion thus far through the 2024 collegiate football season. Also, Indiana QB Kurtis Rourke will be added to the 5th slide of the 2024 Heisman frontrunner slide-show at CFB Now, as I believe he could battle with Cam Ward, Dillon Gabriel, Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty for 2024 Heisman votes in the very near future if they can run table & secure a 2024 CFP 12 team playoff bid. Strength of schedule - #103 #8 TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERSThe Vols lone loss on the season came at the hands of Arkansas, but they were able to topple top 25 ranked opponent Alabama & defeated very good team’s in Kentucky, Florida & NC State. The Vols have been up & down offensively since the start of the season, but we could attribute that to the stellar defensive coordinators of the SEC in their strategic game-plans to subdue the electrifying Nico Iamaleva. But, anyway you slice the cake puts the Vols in a position to earn a bid to the CFP 12 team bracket, as they will match-up against Georgia in two weeks after taking on Mississippi State. If they can find a way to conquer the Dawgs in Athens, they will surely shoot up the CFP top 25 rankings and find themselves competing in the SEC championship game to earn a first round bye in the 12 team college football playoff bracket! This would be the scenario since the Longhorns recently fell to Georgia, but if the Vols were to lose this match-up and win the remainder of their games, there is still a chance they could find themselves competing in the first round of the CFP 12 team bracket come December. Strength of schedule - #33 #9 BYU COUGARSThe BYU Cougars have been on a tear through their slate of games in 2024 & find themselves sitting atop the Big 12 conference standings, after Iowa State suffered their first loss of the season to Texas Tech. With SMU completely obliterating Pittsburgh, the Cougars have a high quality win over a top 15 opponent & ran Top 25 opponent Kansas State off the field in a 38 to 9 victory. The emergence of BYU QB Jake Retzlaff has been the key to the Cougs undefeated season thus far as the Cougars were picked to finish last preseason in Big 12 conference play as the quarterback position was in question. The Cougars still have in-state rival and former top 25 ranked Utah, a very talented Kansas Jayhawks squad, a 6 & 2 top 25 bound Arizona State team and a Coach Fritz led Houston team who just took down top 25 K-State remaining on their schedule. With that being said, their just appears to be magic in the air in Provo, Utah this season, as the dynamic Mormon faith based institution fully embraces judaism from their star QB Jake Retzlaff and will be looking to obtain a first round bye in the CFP 12 team bracket by winning the Big 12 championship! Strength of schedule - #61 #10 NOTRE DAME FIGHTING-IRISHThe Notre Dame Fighting-Irish will never forget the loss to Northern Illinois in South Bend as it could very well come back to haunt them down the stretch if they were to stumble. According to ESPN, the Notre Dame schedule is now ranked 75th, but the wins against Louisville & Texas A&M give them two top 25 victories to date and they were able to send the Naval Academies season into a shipwreck when they defeated them 51 to 14. But, given the current landscape of the 12 team CFP bracket formula & the CFP committees relentless pursuit of perfecting their algorithmic processes, I believe it’s a toss up between Boise State & Notre Dame for the 10th spot, as the Broncos only lost by 3 to Oregon and have a top 25 win on their resume against Washington State. Northern Illinois is now 4 & 4 on the season and 1 & 3 in MAC conference play, which is truly sinful as it stains the prestigious Notre Dame Fighting-Irish’s resume drastically. If Notre Dame can defeat a befuddled FSU team and then take care of business against Virginia, they will most likely have the opportunity to bank their 3rd top 25 win of the season versus Army. If they then can beat their Rivals from the West Coast in USC, they could have a valid argument in receiving a bid to the CFP 12 team bracket. But that early season loss to a non power four team who is not in contention in their conference will beckon on the CFP committee's mind. Strength of schedule - #75 CFP RANKINGS REVEAL 2024The CFB Now CFP rankings reveal for the 2024-2025 CFB Playoff bracket base cases for CFB team's ranked 11 through 25 can be found below! #11 BOISE STATE BRONCOSThe Boise State Broncos are one the most complete squads in all of college football as they have the 4th best offense nationally through 8 games and have only let up 25.6 points per game. I have been very impressed with Boise State QB Maddux Madsen and obviously Heisman Trophy frontrunner Ashton Jeanty, as they have orchestrated a very balanced pro-style attack to perfection. There sole loss on the season came at the hands of the #1 ranked Oregon Ducks by a score of 37 to 34 and there is not much concern for the Broncos on the remainder of their schedule. Coach Spencer Danielson has made all of the right moves thus far and will look to improve defensively down the stretch of the season, as lord knows that the Broncos will be lighting up the scoreboard with their unstoppable offensive attack that can punish you on the ground or beat you through the air. Besides the over 1,500 yards that Jeanty has amassed on the ground behind a very stout Boise State offensive front, Madsen has delivered a near perfect season with 1,789 yards passing, 17 TD’s & only 2 interceptions. He has done a masterful job at finding the opening in the defense pre-snap when opponents are packing the box to try & bring Jeanty to a halt, while being capable of pushing the ball downfield to the likes of WR’s Cameron Camper & Latrell Caples, as well as TE Matt Lauter. Strength of schedule - #59 #12 ALABAMA CRIMSON-TIDEThe Alabama Crimson-Tide have not coped well in their mental preparations since the departure of legendary coach Nick Saban and it has been visible on the playing field at times. After riding high after an enormous victory over the CFP 2nd ranked Georgia Bulldogs, the Alabama Crimson-Tide lost to Vanderbilt for the first time since 1984 which further bolstered the claim of SEC dominance across the landscape of collegiate football. They bounced back with a 27 to 25 victory over top 25 ranked opponent South Carolina, but then took another loss to the top 10 ranked Tennessee Volunteers and simply just cannot keep their momentum “rolling” for whatever reason, as they have arguably one of the most talented rosters in the nation. Bama shredded the Missouri Tigers, who appear to be another Tigers team that was “smoke & mirrors” in the polls earlier in the season by a score of 34 to 0. But now they face-off against conference foe LSU and the Tigers are simply heated at the fact that they hold the head to head tie-breaker over Ole Miss because they beat them fair & square on October 12th by a score of 29 to 26, but somehow ended up ranked a spot behind them in the college football coaches poll and the CFB Now CFP top 25 rankings! With that being said, if Alabama can go into Death Valley and get a victory, they should be more than capable of handling the likes of Mercer, Oklahoma and Auburn to finish the season and claim their spot in the 12 team college football playoff bracket. Strength of schedule - #11 #13 LSU TIGERSThe Louisiana State Tigers were able to defeat Ole Miss in a head to head match-up, but still somehow received less votes in the college football coaches poll. LSU’s other loss was to USC and Ole Miss lost to Kentucky, but let me reiterate, they lost to LSU in an overtime battle in Death valley. Given that LSU was recently defeated by Texas A&M, but defeated South Carolina who recently beat Texas A&M, I believe their ranking is justified on our end. But this is the week the LSU TIgers have been desperately waiting for as they have an opportunity to stake their claim as the team who knocked Alabama out of the 12 team CFP bracket and legitimize their seeding in the new CFP format. They have a very tough Florida Gators team following their Bama match-up and will take on AP top 25 ranked Vanderbilt and finish the season at home against Oklahoma. If Nussmeier can deliver in key moments and the LSU defense can step up at home and stifle Milroe and the highly potent Bama offense, I believe the Tigers will hurdle themselves into the CFP 12 team bracket. In my opinion, this game in itself is a college football playoff contest, as the loser will inevitably be eliminated with their 3rd loss from CFP contention. Strength of schedule - #16 14. OLE MISS REBELSThe Ole Miss Rebels football team has arguably the most explosive offense nationally when firing on all cylinders under the tutelage of offensive mastermind Lane Kiffin & Jaxon Dart currently has passed Heisman frontrunner Cam Ward for most passing yards accumulated nationally. With that being said, Ole Miss gained a CFB Now top 25 victory over South Carolina in a very convincing 27 to 3 onslaught of the Gamecocks and one of their two losses came to a highly ranked LSU Tigers team. They were upset by Kentucky earlier in the season and have yet to officially beat a consensus top 25 opponent this season, but most certainly appear to be “picking up steam” heading into their match-up with Georgia after one of the best offensive performances witnessed all season. Jaxon Dart hurled the pigskin for over 500 yards and the Rebels offense scored 63 points against an Arkansas' defense who only allowed 14 points total against the 7th ranked Volunteers. Which begs to question, could the Rebels be catching steam at just the right time and can they come close to repeating this performance against the perennial powerhouse Georgia Bulldogs at home? I believe this could be an elimination game for Ole Miss and it will come down to creating turnovers and setting Jaxon Dart and the high flying Rebels offense up in prime positioning to strike. In these types of closely contested match-ups, the game is normally won and lost by creating more opportunities or possessions than your opponent and the Rebels will look to capitalize on any miscues the Dawgs offer. Strength of schedule - #32 15. SMU MUSTANGSThe SMU Mustangs football team has been nothing short of phenomenal so far this season and recently stampeded all over the Pittsburgh Panthers in a 48 to 25 blowout victory. This shot SMU up the rankings and they are now in prime positioning to enter the CFP 12 team bracket, as their only loss of the season came to the 9th ranked BYU Cougars and they now boast two top 25 victories against Louisville & Pittsburgh. The Mustangs have an extremely good chance of running the table with their remaining games against non top 25 opponents Boston College, Virginia & California, as we anticipate a clash of offensive juggernauts in the ACC championship game against the Miami Hurricanes. Given the outlook moving up, I believe 15 and even the AP ranking of 13 is not justified right now for the SMU Mustangs, as it is inevitable they move up as more teams knock each other out of contention & they have yet to suffer their second loss. The Mustangs made a QB change earlier in the season and Kevin Jennings has impressed the likes of Coach Saban as “the most underrated player in the country”, while aiding the Mustangs in total team efforts with his talented dual-threat capabilities. Strength of schedule - #71 #16 THROUGH #25 COMING SOON!
