2022 AUBURN TIGERS FOOTBALL

The 2022 Auburn Tigers football team appeared ready to take the next step in Coach Harsin's second season at Auburn and after departing the Tigers practice facilities, we felt very enthused about how competitive the Tigers of Auburn will be in 2022 SEC West play. The SEC West has proved to be the most difficult football division in all of college football today, but the Tigers have begun to amass the talent needed to potentially pull off some major upsets during the 2022 college football season. In Coach Bryan Harsin’s first season as a head coach he finished 7-5 at Arkansas State and then took over the Boise State Broncos in 2014, which led to the Broncos continued reign of Mountain West dominance. After boasting a 69-19 record as the Broncos Head Coach as well as four top 25 finishes, Harsin made the jump to the SEC and took over as coach of the Auburn Tigers. Coach Harsin and the Tigers are looking to improve on a season where they were able to defeat two SEC top 25 opponents in Ole Miss & Arkansas, but finished the season 6-7 overall and 3-5 in SEC play. The tough loss to Houston in the Birmingham Bowl still plagues the minds of the highly talented Auburn Tigers football team, who are eager to prove the naysayers wrong and contend for their fifth SEC West Title.

2022 AUBURN FOOTBALL RETURNING STARTERS

There are many 2022 Auburn football returning starters who will be key contributors for Coach Harsin, but there are a few key returners that made a significant impact during the 2021 season that are looking to make a statement for the 2023 NFL Draft. 

(JR) RB TANK BIGSBY

Auburn running back Tank Bigsby was rated as the number one running back in the 2020 recruiting class by College Football Today & has been a workhorse out of the backfield for the Tigers offense since arriving on campus. Bigsby was able to amass over 2,200 yards from scrimmage during his true freshman & sophomore seasons and will once again be the key component for instant offensive production, as Bigsby is one of the clear favorites to win the prestigious Doak Walker Award. 

(SR) EDGE DERICK HALL

​Auburn Tigers edge rusher Derick Hall has many top flight NFL executives highly intrigued with his fast twitch and explosiveness as a top 2023 NFL Draft edge rusher, but will need to flourish and wreak havoc coming off the edge to here his name called in the first two rounds of next year's draft. Hall has gotten to the opposing team's quarterback a total of 13 times the past two seasons and was a significant factor in Auburn's defensive tactics that bewildered 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. 

OT KILIAN ZIERER

Top 2020 Juco OT recruit Kilian Zierer has transitioned beautifully in Coach Harsin's offensive scheme and will once again be a significant factor up front, as he is a true mauler in the trenches who possesses NFL athleticism at the offensive tackle position. 

(SR) LB OWEN PAPPOE

If you have followed top football recruits over the past few recruiting classes, you probably already know that former five star recruit Owen Pappoe is an athletic freak that has NFL executives pondering what he is capable of in the National Football League. Owen has totaled 165 total tackles throughout his career and 6 sacks, but only competed in five games last season due to injury and is expected to be much more productive during his senior campaign. 

WR TAR'VARISH DAWSON

Top 2021 ATH recruit Tar'Varish Dawson will be looked upon heavily when working out of the slot in the play-action and screen game, as he is one of the most explosive players on the Tigers 2022 roster. The main question still remains, who will be delivering the pigskin to the likes of Dawson and the Tigers play-makers in 2022? 

2022 AUBURN STARTING QB

The 2022 Auburn starting QB still remains in question as the Auburn coaching staff has four highly talented quarterbacks on their roster heading into the 2022-2023 college football season. (JR) QB TJ FINLEY

Fomer LSU transfer QB TJ Finley hurled 6 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign and only tossed one interception during the 2021 season, but lacked consistency when pushing the football down the field. Finley is the more experienced option in Harsin's offense and has worked hard over the off-season developing timing with his receiving targets, but was not as productive as needed at the QB position during the 2021 season. 

(SO) QB ZACH CALZADA 

Texas A&M transfer QB Zach Calzada appeared in 12 games for the Texas A&M aggies last season and was able to throw for 2,185 yards and 17 TD's, while only hurling 9 interceptions in his sophomore year in SEC play. Calzada was rated a top five quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class at College Football Today and was able to lead the Aggies to a 41 to 38 upset over the Alabama Crimson-Tide, as Auburn fans are hoping he could potentially deliver a repeat performance in this seasons 2022 Iron Bowl match-up!
