PAST CFB NOW CFP TOP 25 RANKINGS RESULTS
CFB PLAYOFF RANKINGS FORMULA
CFB PLAYOFF RANKINGS ALGORITHM
(R)+(QW)+(SOS)+(HTH)+(ET)+(PF)+(PA) = CFP TOP 25 RANK
(R) = Record This is one is pretty simple, equate how many games were won or lost to the remainder of the algorithm below.
(QW) = Quality Wins Judging by top 25 teams defeated and how much team won by. This is also done by tallying up the wins and losses of opponents defeated, as well as opponents lost to. For example, USC's quality win over formerly ranked preseason top 25 opponent Utah moved them up substantially in the CFB Today Top 25 poll this week. Oregon had a mid-quality victory over UCLA, but only won by 3 points. A win is a win, unless your ranking the Top 25 correctly.
(SOS) = Strength of Schedule Comparing strength of schedule can be easily accomplished by how many teams are in the top 25 that team plays and by looking at teams opponents schedule and their wins & losses. If things are real tight, you can even go look deeper and look at the opponent or the opponents match-ups and study their strength of schedule. As you will see below, parts of the above algorithm can be wiped out by (ET) and (HTH).
(HTH) = Head To Head - If you have teams that have competed head to head with the same record and both have the same sum total of the above, you must account for head to head match-ups to break the tie. If the head to head match-up happens to exist at the top of the rankings, you must add points by using the week to week eye test. Last time I checked, football is a game that normally is won between the white lines. There just happens to be a million variables in a daily week in college or pro football, that can drastically change the outcome of a team's performance. These variable have to be accounted for in this formula.
(ETH) = Eye Test Horoscope - When it all boils down to indecisiveness in the formula, you must go by what you visibly see out top 25 teams week to week. For example, a team like the Oklahoma Sooners who has woken up from their early season slumbers and the Longhorns, who are on a collision course with another top 25 team in the Big 12 Iowa State this weekend. The Cyclones look like a totally different ball team from early on in the 2020 college football season and so does Texas. If you still at a dead lock, use the two easily calculated measures below (PF) & (PA), which can often be misleading, but if you went through all of the above, you are left with no other options.
(PF) = Points For - How many points total college football team scored throughout the season.
(PA) = Points Allowed - How many points has college football team allowed throughout the season.
INTRO TO 12 TEAM CFB PLAYOFF FORMAT
1. Alabama/Florida
2. Notre Dame/Clemson
3. Ohio State/Northwestern
4. Texas A&M/Florida
5. Clemson/Notre Dame
6. USC, Oregon or Washington
7. Oklahoma, Iowa State or Texas
8. BYU vs Cincinnati
8th Seed - (G5 Playoff or 1st RD play-in game, read more below)
Of course, there are many other scenarios that could play out and Clemson could beat Notre Dame, Florida could upset Alabama and so on. Let's look at how this would pan out in the 8 team CFB playoff bracket below by taking the currently higher ranked Top 25 teams.
#1 Alabama vs #8 BYU or Cincinnati
#2 Notre Dame vs #7 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State vs #6USC
#4 Texas A&M vs #5 Clemson
COLLEGE FB PLAYOFF
I actually even came up with an even more justified college FB playoff system, that will would have six team playoff between the group of five programs and include the highest ranked independent team. The winner of the group of five college FB playoff would be granted the 8th remaining spot in this model of the college FB playoff. Given the parity we have seen this season between power five teams and group of five teams, I believe this model would be the best of the inclusion of all deserving teams to battle it out for the right to play for the College Football National Championship. Let's take a glance of how the group of five playoff would commence at this point in the college football season and the teams that would be battling it out for the 8th seed in the above college football playoff 8 team bracket.
MAC Conference Championship
Kent State/Buffalo vs Western Michigan
Sun Belt Championship
#16 Coastal Carolina vs #24 Lousiana
Mountain West Championship
Nevada vs San Jose St/Boise St
American Athletic Conference
#7 Cincinnati vs #25 Tulsa/SMU
Conference USA
#17 Marshall/FAU vs UTSA
Independent 1st RD Playoff
#8 BYU vs Liberty or Army
CFB GROUP OF 5 PLAYOFF
Taking the highest ranked teams or just by guessing at this point in the season, as teams in the MAC have only played three games thus far, here is how the group of five playoff seeding would look currently. The two highest ranked conference winners would receive 1st round byes. 1st RD byes - #1 Cincinnati & #2 BYU
1st RD Match-Ups
#3 Coastal Carolina vs #6 Nevada/San Jose St or Boise St
#4 Marshall vs Kent St/Buffalo or Westnern Michigan
2nd RD Match-Ups (hypothetical)
#1 Cincinnati vs #4 Marshall (lowest ranked winner in 1st RD)
#2 BYU vs #3 Coastal Carolina
The winners of the semi-finals would go onto to play in the group of five championship and the right to the final seed in the 8 Team CFB Playoff.
2020-2021 CFB PLAYOFF TOP 25 RANKINGS
The College Football Final Four would only be realistic with a College Football 8 Team Playoff system that would produce a true national championship. As was stated by Coach Mike Leach a year ago, only with a 64 team playoff format much like the NCAA Basketball Tournament that keeps so many on the edge of their seats. But let's take baby steps on establishing that monstrosity that would like kinda like the Texas State Playoff Brackets. Below is the College Football Today Top 25, which was released before midnight every week before Sunday. We do not have the exact order, but 21 teams are identical as the CFP selection committee members poll. We will be talking about why we have the other four remaining teams in our CFB Today Top 25, but first let's highlight the College Football Playoff projections that were correct and how the 8 team CFP would have panned out.

Clemson: 13-0

CFP PLAYOFF TOP 25 2018-2019
SEC Championship - #1 Alabama vs #5 Georgia
Big Ten Championship - #22 NorthWestern vs #6 Ohio St
ACC Championship - #2 Clemson vs #23 Pitt
Big 12 Championship - #7 Oklahoma vs #15 Texas
PAC-12 Championship - #8 Washington vs #19 Utah
Wow, so we would automatically have Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Washington in the College Football 8 Team Playoff as automatic Power 5 Conference winning bids for the right to compete in the CFP. The remaining three teams are now very visibly easy to mostly everyone involved with this selection process and they would be as follows: Notre Dame, Georgia and UCF. The winning streak UCF has been able to produce has been quite fun to watch and they were able to complete yet another undefeated season in the American Conference. Many would argue for others for that remaining 8th ranking in the College Football Playoff, but their overall body of work would then be much harder to look past.
1. Alabama vs Washington
2. Clemson vs UCF
3. Notre Dame vs Ohio State
4. Oklahoma vs Georgia

2020 CFB Playoff
There will be an uproar at the end of the college football season and undefeated teams fan bases, as well as the Universities will be claiming split national titles once again. Let's look at our week 12 Top 25, which hasn't change much due to games being cancelled and only one top 25 losing in week 11.
1. Alabama (as predicted weeks ago, when we had them ahead of Clemson)
2. Notre Dame
3. Ohio State
4. Texas A&M
5. Clemson
6. Florida
7. Cincinnati
8. BYU
9. Indiana
10. Georgia
11. Miami

22. Texas
23. Auburn
24. Louisiana
25. Tulsa
Hypothetically conference champions right now., as this could change any given week. If all teams below win out, they will be in the top 10 at least. Each conference championship now becomes a 1st round CFB Playoff match-up.
SEC Champion Alabama
Big 12 Champion Oklahoma State
ACC Champion - Clemson beats Notre Dame in re-match with Trevor Lawrence
Big Ten - Ohio State
PAC 12 - Oregon
Remaining highest ranked top 25 teams - Notre Dame, Cincinnati & BYU - In this scenario, we would have a CFB Playoff 1st round match-up to get into the top 8 with BYU playing the Bearcats at a neutral location.
CFB 8 Team Playoff Seeding for 2020-2021
1. Alabama vs 8. Oklahoma State
2. Ohio State vs 7. Cincinnati or BYU
3. Clemson vs 6.Florida
4. Notre Dame vs 5.Texas A&M
Why do I suggest this? Well, I am sick of more than one team claiming they are national champions and this is the most logical way to sort things out. We called it in 2018-2019!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SELECTION
The only other scenario that could happen, is if the inevitable SEC bias comes into effect in the playoff selection committees thought process is Georgia remaining at number four overall. This would create mass hysteria in the media and produce yet another Alabama vs Georgia rematch scenario that would drive in large amounts of revenue. Georgia played Alabama very tough in the SEC Championship and it was honestly epic how the story of Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa is playing out. Both have handled the situation with the utmost respect for one another and their teammates. They battled hard together in the SEC Championship and when it was all said and done, were the two headed monster I said Nick Saban would use when needed in a close game. Why? The two simply bring different dynamics to a offense that are extremely hard to identify in a defensive scheme. They both have very unique skill sets that are tailored to succeeding at a high level in certain college style offenses. Tua and Hurts both have the ability to play in NFL and win games for their teams, because simply put, they are leaders molded by one of the best College Football coaches in the game. Good luck finding a way to beat Alabama in the College Football Playoff, because when you give coaches like Nick Saban that amount of time to study his opponent, you better be able to adapt to take down the defending national champions.
"The College Football Playoff is not an officially sanctioned championship event by the NCAA, the sport's governing body. The NCAA has never recognized an official national championship for FBS football, instead merely recognizing the decisions made any of a number of independent major championship selectors." -Wiki
A 13 member committee completes this selection process, instead of the BCS computers that used to finish the NCAA FBS Top 25. Because the Tournament only has four teams, this usually creates a cause for concern among power five programs and other less lucrative programs in smaller conferences like UCF. The fact of the matter is, anyone can claim a national title these days and we plan on crowning our champion by influencing all members of every Top 25 committee to do what's right for not only each college football program, but also each individual student-athlete who deserves a shot at the national title.
